What Happens When You Take Your Business Problems Outside

As entrepreneurs, we love coming up with new ideas. That’s not the issue.

In fact, most of us absolutely thrive when we’re brainstorming.

You probably have a running note on your phone where you jot down new ideas as they arrive. Whether you’re in the shower, out for a walk, or having dinner with your partner. Coming up with ideas isn’t the problem.

What we tend to really struggle with, though, is figuring out how to fix a specific issue in our business. You know, the thing that’s been bothering you. It’s probably something like generating new leads, marketing, or building systems that actually work.

We’re brilliant when it comes to creative ideas but often get stuck when it comes to the admin. The boring, mundane stuff that just doesn’t excite us.

You know that tackling this problem would make a massive difference in your business. You just don’t know where to start.

So, you keep putting it off.

It ends up at the bottom of your to-do list and stays there.

But it doesn’t go away. It keeps nagging at you, slowly draining your energy.

Here’s The Outsiders’ solution to that problem.

Get outside. Get moving. Get talking.

We recently hosted a fantastic event for Outdoor Office Day where we did exactly that.

During one part of the event, we split into small groups, and each person had the opportunity to share a problem in their business. We listened closely to really understand what it was about. We asked questions. We dug deeper. Why does this matter? What’s getting in the way? And then we asked a few more questions until the real issue became clear.

Then we offered support, in whatever way we could.

It really was that simple.

And it worked! The ideas just kept flowing.

It’s incredible how being outdoors gets the neurons firing. With new neural pathways activated, fresh solutions to old problems suddenly become obvious.

The thing is, sitting alone in your head with a problem can be exhausting. But saying it out loud and hearing someone else’s perspective can make a world of difference.

We all left feeling inspired and energised, with more resources and more resourcefulness. What’s more, we all felt a little less alone. Reminded that we are not the only ones wrestling with these big problems in business.

So next time you’re sitting in front of your laptop, staring at a mountain of a problem, try this instead.

Call a friend. Go for a walk. Talk it out.

Who knows, maybe the solution will reveal itself somewhere along the way. Perhaps even while climbing an actual mountain.
